I don’t learn

Yesterday was the first day of the fall kickball season. So, in typical Lee style, I stayed at the bar a little too long. I did not, however, take part in any drinking games, nor did I do any shots. But since I’m now officially an old person, I had a hangover from hell this morning. I just don’t learn. I cannot drink like a college student anymore. I simply can’t. I don’t know when I’m going to learn. The pain of the next day is simply not worth it anymore. I was a useless blob at work today.

Funny story – apparently, and I think this has to do more with being asleep than being drunk, last night I got up at about 2:30 to go to the bathroom. For reasons that I don’t recall, instead of coming back to bed, I went downstairs and slept on the couch. Jason came downstairs and asked me if I got lost. I said yes and proceeded to say something about catalogs and chocolate. I have no recollection of any of this.

I brought my workout clothes to work even though I felt horrible. Fortunately, my circuit training class was cancelled. I took that as an opportunity to take a lunchtime nap. Still, it didn’t help. After getting home, napping some more and eating some cereal, I finally felt a little better. So I went for a run. I did about 2.5 miles. I wanted to do more, but it was getting dark. I love running in my new neighborhood. My old neighborhood was on a bunch of main roads, one of which is somewhat seedy. This new neighborhood is just a road up from one of my favorite running areas – Morningside.

I feel better now, especially that I ran, but I just can’t keep doing this to myself. I need to learn to alternate my beer with water, or really, just drink water.

In other news, I’ve realized that i just don’t like oatmeal that much. It always looks so good in other bloggers pictures, but I always think it tastes more like gruel.

  1. Try plain oatmeal with cinnamon, raisins or dried cranberries, and some walnuts. I love that combo!
