I am on this kick of trying to make oatmeal more appetizing. Truth be
told, I like the instant, sugary kind just fine, but when I make
regular rolled oats, not so much. The other day, I was looking for
recipes and came across this – Butterscotch Oatmeal
What stuck out in my mind was that there was an egg in it. I thought
that maybe the egg would give the oatmeal a more cake like
consistency. Except, unfortunately, I didn’t make note of the
This morning, I mixed together 1/4 cup egg beaters, 1/2 cup oats, 1/2
cup milk, 1/2 cup water and 1/2 banana in the hopes that it would turn
into to magical butterscotch yumminess, despite there being no butter
nor brown sugar. Instead of a delicious meal, I got some very frothy
gruel that tasted like eggs. I put a packet of sugar in the raw in
there and then added some dried fruit and almonds but it wasn’t enough
to save it. I choked it down, but just couldn’t get past the weird
eggy taste. I guess I put too much of the egg beaters in there.
Of course, my co-worker Andrew, who apparently has a sensitive nose, kept saying that
something smelled like eggs. I gave him my most innocent look and told him that it wasn’t me, I was eating oatmeal.
I kind of feel a little bit naseous right now.
