Bagelshroom?

Doesn’t this sort of look like a bagel? I think it does, especially since I know that part of that topping actually is cream cheese.

It was actually a Hummus Stuffed Portobello Cap from allrecipes.com. And frankly, I can’t decide if I liked it or not. I actually had two of them; the second was a lot smaller. It was a little too cream cheesy for my taste. I think that you’re supposed to use smaller mushroom caps and make little appetizers out of them and I can see that being good, but these big mushrooms were too much and now I’m really, really full.

I’m sitting on the couch waiting for Jeopardy* to start. I’m not a huge tv watcher at all, but I am kind of excited about The Buried Life and My Life as Liz which both premiere on MTV tonight. Also, that show about the kid that was put up for adoption and goes back to find her parents that’s been advertised every two minutes on the CW might be worth checking out. I will fully admit that I have awful taste in TV shows. I think I have good taste in movies and music, though, so it makes up for it.

I’ve always taken two rest days a week. I’ve started doing it differently though. In the past, I’d arrange my schedule so my rest days coincided with any plans I might have. Like if I was going to dinner with a friend on a Wednesday, I’d make that my rest day. If I didn’t have any plans, like tonight, I’d go to the gym so I wouldn’t “waste” a night. The problem with my system is that I never really got much time to just relax at night. I was either working out or going out. Now, I’ve switched it up so that my rest days are Mondays and Fridays and that allows me, especially on Mondays, time to veg out on the couch.

Do you schedule your rest days or play them by ear?

*I went online last week to look at the test to be on the show and realized that I am probably ineligible. Amongst the people who cannot try out are those who are related to someone who works for a tv station that shows Jeopardy. Jason does. Although we’re not related yet.

I used to play my rest days by ear, but I’m going to give it a go at planning them out and see how it works for me.

  3. I always schedule my rest days but then again, I schedule everything. It’s in my nature. I make them happen on weekends because that’s when I savor ‘em the most.

I have awful taste in tv too. Jersey Shore anyone?

  4. That looks good- and super filling! I am debating on watching that new CW show too. They had me when they compared it to Gilmore Girls; I’m obsessed with that show!

I schedule my rest days on my training schedule but then finagle them accordingly when things come up.

  5. That really does look like a bagel!

I used to schedule my rest days, but now I’m working on taking rest whenever I need it. Since I’m not training for anything very aggressively right now, i’m not too worried about it!

  6. Love the bagelshroom.

I schedule my rest days and if needed to adjust then I move days around.

  7. We try to watch Jeopardy with the girls. We like to expose them to knowledge.

I am trying to schedule my rest days on days that I know I can’t fit in a workout. My schedule is so crazy that it is sometimes hard.

  8. Haha, love the name, bagelshroom. Kind of hard to say it out loud, though. I adore cream cheese, so I think this may be perfect for me!

  9. OHMYGOD! i have to run to the kitchen and make that fungus hummus delish-ness NOW!!!!!!!! that looks so damn good, lee!

  10. I usually play my rest days by ear….like, if I’m totally and completely exhausted and can get 6 hours of sleep and workout in the morning one day, or 7 hours of sleep and skip my workout, that will be my rest day. :-)

You should definitely try Jeopardy! I’m amazed at the contestants. I used to find it boring, but now I know some answers so it’s more exciting.

  11. Hmm… well, a bunch of us watch the same tv shows, so they must not be that awful! I didn’t get a chance to watch anything last night, but I love Jersey Shore, Bachelor, TMZ, etc. :)

I need to start planning more… when it comes to dinners and working out, I always wing it! I have never planned my workouts, but I think I may try it for a week and see how it goes.

  12. I use Sunday as my rest day every single week. Unless there is some major reason to change it up I am pretty consistent with it.

  13. Love Jeopardy!

I am going to have a layover in Atlanta tomorrow – anything good in the airport?

  14. haha they DID totally overadvertise that show – so funny! I think the hummus caps look fab – too bad they were only so so. :(

  15. I thought it was a bagel, too : ) Too bad it didn’t taste better…it sounds fabulous, it’s a recipe I would’ve chosen, too. Love hummus…bought some for my weight management class to sample yesterday and they all gave it a thumbs up. Still baffles me that there’s so many people that have never been graced by the yumminess of hummus before!
