If Monday was healthy day in Vegas, yesterday was the opposite. We thought about going to the lazy river in our hotel, but decided to check out some of the other hotels instead. We headed next door to New York, New York.

The hotel was really touristy and cheesy, but I loved it. I have a lot of memories of going to Rehoboth and Ocean City beaches as a kid and this hotel really reminded me of those trips with it’s arcade games and roller coaster, which of course, we rode.

We decided to buy this passport deal for $25 a person which included a ride on the roller coaster (normally like $15) and a drink at four different bars in the hotel. I think you can see how this turned into an unhealthy day, right? We were at least smart enough to do the roller coaster first. I haven’t been on a roller coaster in at least ten years but I was brave and sat in the front row.
We hung out in NY, NY for a few hours before going back out on the strip to purchase tickets for Penn & Teller.

(Who needs clothes right? It was hot out. Okay, not really, I was wearing a dress.)
Originally, we were going to check out the buffet in the Bellagio but, as we were running out of time, we decided to try the one at the Rio instead since that’s where the show was and you had to be at the ticket booth an hour in advance to get your seats which were assigned on a first come, first serve basis.
We waited in line for 45 minutes for the buffet.

It was not worth it! When people rave about the Vegas buffets, I think that they’re emphasizing quantity over quality. Yes, there was a ton of food. No, it didn’t taste that great. I had some crab legs, some guacamole and some soup. No pictures because it didn’t really deserve any.
The buffet left a bad taste in our mouths (literally) but we tried to re-energize ourselves for the show. By this point, any buzz we had from earlier in the day had worn off and I got really, really tired. Penn & Teller was good, but aside from being tired, I was also cold and I couldn’t see very well from where we were sitting. The show ended at 10:30 and we took a taxi back to our hotel where I immediately fell asleep.
I liked healthy vegas day better. Live and learn.

The buffet at the Aria was good. Lots of actual healthy choices.
Diablo’s is my favorite over-all, though. That definitely was NOT healthy. We did one dinner at the MGM. It was expensive, but yummy. We bought the discount thing from that ticket vendor that’s like every 30 feet.
That’s where we bought our buffet and show tickets too.
Haha, sounds about like my unhealthy days. Minus the roller coaster, because I’m a wuss.
I rode that roller coaster too! Glad yall made it to the show
It was pretty scary!
I know what you mean about Vegas buffets…people do rave but I have only been to one that I actually liked and that wasn’t just all unhealthy. Hey, you had a great day despite that, sometimes that’s all that matters
I went to one buffet at Treasure Island and I had no desire to repeat the experience. I thought the food was blah and incredibly overpriced. we ended up buying groceries and making food in our kitchen in our suite.
Hope you enjoyed the show
Yay–loving the Vegas posts! I love love Vegas! I was supposed to be there last weekend for a bachelorette party but I couldn’t swing it.
Aw, sorry the buffet disappointed– I feel like a lot of buffets are like that. I’d much rather have quality of quantity!
If you were healthy the whole time in Vegas I would be very disappointed!
The same goes for cruise food, which is like buffets in my opinion. It’s not great, but there’s a lot of it.
I am excited to hear how you liked Penn and Teller! I used to watch their show on HBO (? was it?) – Bullsh!t.
I should have brought my glasses. I couldn’t see very well from where I was sitting so I couldn’t exactly see the tricks.
Showtime.
Buffet food is never good. I’ll take a good restaurant any day!
That roller coaster looks amazing! I love roller coasters, as long as they don’t go upside down.
I hate buffets – I get grossed out by all of the people touching the serveware. Ick
This one went upside down twice! There was a loop and then a corkscrew type thing. Scary!
The Bellagio buffet is amazing! Anywhere else and it sucks (Rio included!)…hopefully you can get back to the bellagio, I think its worth it! Or the Wynn, both are great.
I found the Vegas buffets to be pretty mediocre too. Ditto for the cruise I went on, though others raved about it. Unfortunately, anything prepared in that kind of mass quantity is just not going to be really top quality.
I love the idea of buffets because of the variety, but I often eat too much!
I have a love / hate relationship with buffets! I didn’t go last time I was in Vegas because I knew I would overdo it and make myself sick. I was driving home from Colorado a few years ago and passed through Vegas (about 4 hours away driving from me. ) My dad thought it would be a good idea to go to a buffet, and I ate so much that I spent the rest of the car ride thinking I was going to throw up! It was miserable.
