Bloggers in the House

There are almost 30 bloggers in the Atlanta area that I know of. I’m sure that there are actually more that I don’t know of. We have blogger dinners every so often, but the problem is that when the group is so big, you only really get to talk to those seated directly around you. So someone had the idea of having a potluck dinner instead of going to a restaurant and that way we’d be able to all talk. I decided to host our first one at my house last night.

In attendance were:

#Atlanta bloggers#

Emily (who doesn’t blog anymore) and Tina,

#Atlanta bloggers#

Stacy, Carol and Traci,

#Atlanta bloggers#

Laura (who doesn’t blog anymore), Alayna and Laura.

Needless to say, there was plenty of good food.

For some reason, I didn’t get a picture of everything, but we had:

• Greek Salad
• a Japanese Sweet Potato dish
• Broccoli Salad
• Spinach Balls
• Spinach and Artichoke Dip
• Olive tapenade on toasts
• Brie and apples on water crackers

Those were the main dishes. For dessert, there was also:

• zucchini muffins
• chocolate sea salt cookies
• nutella sandwich cookies
• carrot cake

I didn’t get a picture of my dessert plate. Probably because I was too busy stuffing it into my mouth. Everything was delicious. My contribution was the spinach and artichoke dip. I used this recipe from Iowa Girl Eats, only I tweaked it just a tad. I used 8 oz of both fat-free sour cream and low-fat cream cheese instead of 6 because they both came in 8 oz containers and I didn’t want to have a little bit of each leftover. I also omitted the 1/2 cup of mozzarella on top because I didn’t really think it needed it.

A fun night. Murphy really enjoyed eight new friends petting him too.

  1. Oh my! SO jealous! What a great group you got together! and that spread o food looks awesome! I love olive tapenade. And brie. And all of it! Did Murphy try to steal treats from said 8 new friends? ;-)

  2. I would love this! Totally wish I lived in Atlanta or we had enough bloggers around here to do that :)

  3. So awesome!! I’m dying to get some DC bloggers together – the only issue is that some of us live in Maryland, some in DC and some in NoVa. I’d love to have everyone come to my house, but that’s quite a hike for some. We’ll see!
I was trying to think of any other activities for a group to do that would allow us to all interact… like a hike or bowling or just a trip to the DC zoo or something. I don’t know if everyone else is as dorky as me and would think that those things would be cool. :)
All of that food looks sooo good- I would be a in a food coma today (well, I kinda am)!

  4. You can’t go wrong with a blogger potluck. Personally I prefer hosting them to heading out to dinner for the exact reason you stated. Everyone gets the chance to chat and catch up. And Grady does the exact same thing Murphy does and makes plenty of new friends (while trying to get said potlucked items!!)

  5. JEALOUS!! I want to come next time!!

  6. It was much easier to talk to each other without the noise of a restaurant, great idea. Every bit of food was excellent, it definitely pays to be friends with foodies!
