Switching it Up

Instead of powering through another bad treadmill run or doing the LiveFit Trainer, I decided to switch it up a little bit tonight and I did something that I have done in at least two years if not more. I went to a spinning class.

A co-worker and I decided to try out a spin class after work since we both belong to the same gym chain. We got there a little bit early and got on the spin bikes about 15 minutes before the class began. I don’t know why I didn’t think about it but that meant that we were actually on the bikes for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The spin room at this particular location of the gym was pretty nice. It was multi-leveled like a movie theater so you could see the instructor. The first 15 minutes or so of the class were pretty tortuous but I guess after a while, I either got used to it or I couldn’t feel my legs anymore because it seemed to go by much quicker.

All in all, I liked it fine.  It was difficult and I’m sure I am going to feel it tomorrow.  I do wish, however, that the instructor played better music.  It was all crappy remixes.  I listen to as much cheesy pop as the next person and enjoy it, but I really don’t like when it’s been remixed.  Good thing I never aspired to be a DJ.

The class ended at 7:45 and by the time I got home, it was after 8.  I still needed to take a shower so making a complicated dinner was pretty much out of the question.  Enter Trader Joe’s Vegetarian pizza and a salad.

Pizza and salad

Is it just me or does a frozen pizza only serve two people?  I know the package usually says three, but I disagree!

  1. I HATE it when the music is all remixes — especially if they are remixes that never END.

Frozen pizza serves 2 people?? Pretty sure I could eat that all by myself :)

    • I could eat the whole thing myself too but it definitely doesn’t serve three!

And yes, Rhianna for like 10 minute straight. Ugh.

  2. They only serve 2 in this household too!

Glad the class went well and didn’t hurt too bad. :)

  3. Haha…our frozen pizzas DEFINITELY only serve the two of us! :-)

  4. I personally think they only serve one person…
I haven’t been to spin in forever, but it’s never been my favorite. I don’t think I’m hardcore enough.

  5. I’ve been digging a once a week spin class lately! It’s a good switch up from running and is good at conditioning my lungs (and legs!). Hate when the music sucks though!

  6. I never liked spin, but tried one recently and enjoyed it. Makes me want to join a gym again.

And I totally agree on those pizzas. I could eat a whole one myself!

  7. Ooh I haven’t been to a spin class in over a year. I think my butt gets numb first…

I typically buy the single serving veggie pizzas from Trader Joes so I can eat the whole thing by myself!!

  8. Sounds like you went to the Brookhaven gym – love their spin room! I took spin yesterday and this a.m. there. Since I can’t run much anymore, spinning seems to be the only exercise that can replace that runner’s high.

And I actually think frozen pizzas serve two on a good day; usually it’s more like 1 or 1.5 :-)

    Have a good weekend!

  9. Yes, April is awesome! She’s my favorite, also James is good and Stephanie. They all teach weekday mornings and then April does Sundays at 9:15. I think Jessica on Monday after work is good too.
