Let’s Go Brav…Orioles!

On Thursday, Jason sent me an email asking I wanted to go to the Braves game on Friday night.  He was able to get some tickets through his job.  I thought it sounded like a perfect Friday night activity.  I don’t really follow baseball.  And by really I mean that I don’t follow it at all.  I always root for the Braves though, unless they are playing my home team, the Baltimore Orioles.  And what do you know, they were playing the Orioles all weekend!

(Though the area of Maryland that I am from is much closer to DC than Baltimore, I root for the Orioles because the Washington Nationals formed as a team after I moved away from the area.  So I have no allegiance to them.)

We had pretty good seats, right behind home plate!

I actually really felt somewhat conflicted about who to root for, so I basically was happy when either team scored.  I don’t discriminate!

The food options at Turner Field leave something to be desired unless you go into the Chophouse or the 755 Club, so we ended up splitting a soft pretzel and drinking some cheap beer.  Typical baseball fare, I suppose.  We left at the top of the 9th inning so we wouldn’t have to sit in traffic on the way out.  There were fireworks after the game that we could still see as we were walking to our car.

And I don’t know what this is, but I thought it was cool.

Cool

Do you go to baseball games often?  What’s your favorite team?  The Braves won, by the way.

  1. That is such a cute pic of you two!! And I love going to the games here just for the experience of it, it’s hard for me to follow without the announcer telling me who’s at bat etc! haha. I get distracted!

  2. Not a baseball fan but I do love soft pretzels!

  3. I am from St. Louis where everyone is crazy about the Cardinals. People here wear red shirts everyday from May through September to support our team (even without Albert Pujols).

  4. I rarely go to baseball games. I just can’t get into it!

  5. You chose the right time to go. I went today and they lost. Boo.

The veggie burger in the Chop House isn’t bad, fyi. :)

  6. I’ve been to 2 or 3 Nats games. Our company picnic is a Nats game too, but I have a concert I’d rather go to.
I don’t follow baseball at all either, but I root for the Nats. They’re actually getting pretty good!

  7. Since Austin doesn’t have a professional sports team we are basically resigned to college sports…so Keith and I have been to some UT college games that were fun! But not going to lie…the best thing about baseball games is the hotdogs and kettle corn…ha!

  8. Sorry we didn’t get to see you!!

  9. You KNOW I love baseball. I grew up going to O’s games (way back at Memorial Stadium even!) but didn’t really care about sports at all until a few years ago. I even worked at Camden Yards in college- selling lemonade with my roomies (what a fun job!!).
It wasn’t until I met Greg that I started caring about baseball. He took me to a Red Sox game at Fenway park the summer that we started dating (he grew up in Boston and his dad lives there still) and it was all over after that! It was so cool to see so many excited fans – we definitely did not have anything like that in Baltimore in recent years. So, I’m a Sox fan. But, I secretly get happy when the O’s win too (unless they’re playing the Sox).
