Since our anniversary fell on a Tuesday, we decided to wait until the weekend to celebrate. Going out together during the week is hard for us because of Jason’s schedule. I made a list of probably 20 restaurants that I wanted to try and we decided on The Iberian Pig in Decatur.
Spanish food is usually very meat-centric so it’s not normally my first choice. However, upon perusing the menu, I realized that there were several things that looked good and I’d heard good things about the restaurant.
We split a bowl of gazpacho for an appetizer. Now I want to make gazpacho at home. I mean, it’s just veggies and maybe olive oil, right? It was refreshing and perfect for this ridiculously hot weather that we’re having.
For my entree, I was torn between the farro or the scallops. I ended up going with the farro. The description on the online menu is for the fall farro, I guess. This had summer vegetables and a romesco sauce.
It was delicious. I need to eat more farro. I’ve never seen it at the grocery store, or even the Dekalb Farmers Market. Is it the same as wheatberries?
Jason got the pork tenderloin. He always gets the burger pretty much whenever we go out to eat and I tried to encourage him to try something different. He said the pork was good but the sauce was overwhelming and he wished he got the burger. Oh well.
Dinner ended and we headed home for more True Blood episodes. Perfect anniversary if you ask me!

I looooove the Iberian Pig. But every time we go there we end up ordering like ten small dishes because we wanna try everything and then it gets expensive. Curse their awesome menu!

I had the pleasure of working a 14 hour day on Tuesday, so we just went to a late dinner at R. Thomas, followed by True Blood! We are addicted to it on HBOGo.

I know that a bunch of grocery stores around here have farro, because I’ve bought it at least 2 of them! I LOVE farro!!! I have an awesome recipe on my blog using farro and swiss chard and butternut squash. It’s so hearty and filling.
