For like two months, Laura and I have been talking about getting together for dinner one night at a new Atlanta restaurant, The Lawrence. I can’t even remember how we started talking about it, but we kept sort of making plans and then they’d fall through and finally we set a firm date to go – last night. Jason came too.

We started out with drinks. I’m usually a wine fan, but the wine list wasn’t appealing to me (read: it was too expensive), so I went with one of their signature cocktails – The Lady Lawrence.

Vodka, lavender mint tea, ginger, cassis, lime and soda.
Despite not knowing what cassis is, I liked this drink. It was refreshing and not too strong tasting. I also had another drink later in the meal, but it wasn’t as good and I didn’t take a picture.
Our server brought out an amuse bouche from the kitchen. It was some sort of smoked trout in a corn soup.

The menu was comprised of small, medium and large dishes. None of the large dishes were really appealing to me and lots of the small ones were, so we decided to just get a bunch of small and medium dishes to share. Some of these don’t seem to be on the menu online anymore.

Bass.

Cremini mushroom and artichoke. Arugula, parmesan, herb, lemon vinaigrette.

Salt and Pepper Tofu. Radish, cilantro, serrano pepper.

Summer Squash. Taragon, maldon, garlic oil.

Trout sashimi.

Blue Pointe Oysters. Heirloom tomato granita, serrano.
The oysters were Jason’s but we shared everything else. It was all good, but my favorites were the summer squash and the tofu. Afterward, the kitchen sent out a small dessert.

All in all, a fun night. The food was good, but I do have to say that we were not exactly full afterward. I guess that’s what happens when you order a lot of small dishes.

And I forgot to get a picture of Laura! Oops! I guess that means we’ll just have to do it again!

yum! looks like so much fun and great flavor combos! drink looks good too!
That was so much fun! We definitely need to do it again soon. Maybe The Spence or The Optimist?
Tell Jason I said it was great to meet him!
We’re in! Jason really enjoyed meeting you too. We should grill sometime too.
Yum! We hit up The Lawrence with some friends a while back and loved it, but we were still hungry even after ordering almost everything on the menu. Seriously; we shared 6 apps, an entree, and all 4 desserts and I could’ve eaten more. Every single thing we had was incredible though.
Next time I’ll come meet up with you!
I love sharing plates, but when everything is really small, I always leave hungry. Our dinner out on Saturday night didn’t even make a dent in my stomach. I came home and had a huge snack!
Sounds like an good place! I love that they had so many meatless options!
Sounds like a great time Lee! That drink sounds so yummy and refreshing!
Looks good!
I adore when restaurants offer smaller plates!
How fun! And that is my favorite way to dine. I love doing a bunch of small plates or appetizers and everyone just shares. I feel like that way you kind of get to taste it all!
Mmmm looks like a great/fun meal!
I kinda love ordering a bunch of small plates because you get a taste of everything.
