Bootcamp Week 5

As much as I hate to admit, I haven’t been as dedicated to boot camp as I would have liked to be. It’s not that I haven’t done the workouts, I have, but I just haven’t really given it my all and, surprise, surprise, I’m not getting the results that I want.

Several of the workouts have around a 30-minute strength portion plus a 20-minute cardio of choice portion. You know what my cardio of choice always is? Walking Murphy. Yes, technically it’s cardio, but I’m not getting my heart rate up at all, especially when he stops to investigate smells every two seconds.

Aside from that, there’s the issue of trying to fit what should be a 45-minute to an hour workout into a 30-minute period. This is my own fault and something I can totally avoid. I try to workout on my lunch break so I have something to do at lunch outside of the office and also so I have more free time at home after work. But the problem is, I’m taking shortcuts and not getting the full benefits of the workouts by condensing them.

So beginning this week, Week 5, I am doing the workouts after work, as prescribed. No more modifications to make them less time consuming! Time and time again, I try to fit my workout into a half hour period and time and time again, it does nothing for me.

Let’s see if I can do it!

Agree – you totally can do this!! You just figured out why you’re not getting as much out of the bootcamp thing as you could be so now that you have the reason, fix it and you will be flying high in no time!

  6. Loved Tina’s pep talk here too ;-) Look forward to hearing how you fare in the next week’s challenge! You got this!

  7. It’s hard for me to give it my all if I am alone. I need a partner or a class to get me going hardcore!!

  8. You can do it Lee! It sounds like you want it, so put your all into it and you will get it!

  9. You can do it!!! It’s funny how those short cuts sneak in there, huh? This morning I was supposed to wake up early to work out and I convinced myself to sleep in. I ALMOST convinced myself to skip my workout (workout b!), until I remembered I CAN do the workout at home. And I’m going to – tonight!

  10. It’s always good to re-set your intentions. I think it’s our nature to do things the easy way, but it sounds like you’re really making it a priority and that’s great!

  11. I’m with you on the trying to condense the workouts into 30 minutes. Finding the time is not easy. Good luck with the remaining weeks!

  12. Don’t feel bad, at least you are still doing the workouts! I am embarrassed to say that I haven’t done a workout in a week…I’m going to get back on track this week!

  13. You can do it!! Also, I am pretty sure we go to the same exact gym! :)
