Woo tomorrow is Friday already. I could get used to these 4-day work weeks. Seriously. At my first job (a newspaper in DC, the bad newspaper if you’re familiar, ie not the Post), I worked Tuesday-Friday, 10 hour days and it was awesome! I wish more jobs would get on board with that. Anyway, the good thing about a shorter week is that I’ve been really busy, which I always enjoy. Well, unless it interferes with my workout, then I don’t enjoy it, but this week did not.
So speaking of workouts, I’m still following Tina’s bootcamp program. I’ve learned that straight sets are much easier (and quicker) than circuits and that when I don’t run like 10+ miles a week, I suck at running. I do enjoy having a prescribed workout for me, though I have to admit that I’m a little frustrated that it doesn’t seem to be helping with weight loss. I know, though, that has more to do with what I’m eating than my workouts. Or I have some annoying inability to lose weight.
Anyway, so yeah, I did the bootcamp workouts each day this week and didn’t skimp out on them. It felt like I was at the gym forever some days and others, like today, were shorter. I always get home after 7 and after walking Murphy and showering, it’s usually almost 8, so dinner is sometimes very hastily thrown together. I usually don’t show you that. I usually only post my pretty meals! These actually are pretty put together for me for a weeknight easy meal. I usually eat refried beans.
Frozen chik’n nuggets (Health is Wealth brand) and cheezy kale chips. I’ve had some kale chip failures in the past, mostly they come out burned but these were delicious. I think the low heat and longer cooking time had a lot to do with that. That bowl is marinara sauce, by the way.

Tonight, I had a portobello mushroom pizza. I had this mushroom in the fridge and I was going to use it for something else, but pizza sounded good. I coated it in 1 tsp olive oil and 1 tsp soy sauce and then cooked it by itself at 350 for 10 minutes. Then I topped it with marinara sauce, mozzarella and goat cheese and cooked it for 5 more minutes. Served with leftover fried quinoa. Italian meets Asian?

That mound of cheese might have something to do with my lack of weight loss, huh? Don’t answer that.
So, yay Friday and also yay, it’s someone’s birthday!

Happy Birthday to my husband, my best friend who doesn’t mind me taking ridiculous pictures of us all the time! We’re going out tomorrow night to celebrate.

Happy Birthday Jason!!! Where are you guys going to eat?
Rathbun Steak. Have you been?
Oh yes! He’s going to be in steak-lovers heaven. They have an amazing wine list and you’ll really appreciate the sides. Easy to make a meal of!
*sketchily butting into conversation* Rathbun is AWESOME! You guys will have a fabulous time! Happy birthday to Jason!
Oh, yes, I would totally prefer working 10 hour days 4 days a week to regular hours 5 days. Wouldn’t work that well with kids, but still…
Have a fun birthday celebration!
yay happy birthday to the hubby!!
As for your workouts, I’m glad you’re getting into Tina’s workouts more and more, even if they are sometimes more time intensive than you might like — change is good?? Especially as it relates to workouts and ‘shocking’ the body a little bit. I bet you’ll see some pounds loss by the end — it sometimes takes a bit for your body to recognize what you’re trying to do, you know? The other thing, as you point out, is what you’re eating — but more importantly, how much you’re eating. I already know you know that part though, haha. Just throwing it out there, trying to be all sage on a Friday
PS have fun celebrating tonight!
Happy Birthday to your husband! And good job with keeping up with the boot camp, sounds like you’re really dedicated!
happy birthday Jason! And I love your update on bootcamp! I bet you are feeling better, now in the jive with it! Have fun tonight!
Happy birthday to Jason! I hope you guys had fun celebrating!
I am definitely game for a mound of cheese
