Road Trip

I took yesterday off work and Jason and I went on a little road trip.

A little over 4 hours later, after a lunch stop at Subway, we arrived at our destination.  Savannah!

My mom and her boyfriend Marty are attending a wedding here and we decided to meet them down here.  It’s not very often that my mother happens to be in Georgia.  Well, I mean, when she is not visiting me.  We got to the hotel, the Westin Savannah, around 4 and decided to head to the pool.

You can’t really tell from the picture, but it’s right on the Savannah River.  After swimming, we got dressed and headed out to dinner.  Our hotel is across the river from the rest of Savannah, so you have to take a little ferry to the other side.  If you go around 7, you get some nice sunset views.

The ferry takes you to River Street, where there are a bunch of restaurants, stores and bars.

We ended up taking a free bus to our dinner location – a restaurant called Local 11 Ten.  I didn’t take any pictures, but we had clams and mussels for an appetizer and then I had the daily catch for my entree, which was cobia, a fish similar to swordfish.

After dinner, we went to City Market to check it out.

There was a band playing and I guess you could drink outside, but I was tired so we headed back to our hotel.

  1. I LOVE Savannah, I was there a few weekends ago. Eat at Vinnie Van Go-Go’s if you can..it’s in City Market and the BEST pizza ever (cash only!) And get cupcakes from the Cupcake Emporium on East State Street! So good!

  2. Love Savannah!!!! Keep an eye out for ghosts.

  3. Savannah seems like such a beautiful city. I’d love to visit sometime. I’ve never really been in Georgia at all except for the airport. Have a good weekend!

  4. My husband and I are hoping to make a trip here in the spring! I hope we can find a nice dog friendly hotel since our 4 legged baby will probably have to tag along for the trip. Not ideal, but I’m sure we’ll make it work.

  5. Huh- I had no idea that Savannah and Atlanta were that far apart! I would love to go there though- and I’d have to eat a hoecake and Paula Deen’s restaurant. :)
